Marble Cake

Instructions

  1. Make up the egg yolks into spice cake batter. Beat the egg whites very light, then add them to three cups of sifted sugar beaten smooth with a large cup of creamed butter. Stir in the wineglass of whiskey or brandy.
  2. Add the three and a half cups of flour that have been sifted three times with a heaping teaspoonful of baking powder.
  3. Put the light and dark batter by alternate spoonfuls into well-buttered and papered pans. Let rise and bake the same as spice cake.
  4. Alternatively, bake the light and dark batters in separate layers. Put them together with any good filling and frost with caramel frosting.
