Macaroni Soup

Ingredients
- 4 oz. fine fresh Naples macaroni
- 1 oz. fresh butter
- 1 small onion
- 2 quarts clear gravy-soup
- grated Parmesan cheese
Instructions
- Bring a pan of water to a fast boil and add the fresh butter and onion stuck with cloves.
- Throw in the macaroni and boil until it has swelled to full size and become tender, taking care it does not burst or become pulpy.
- Drain the macaroni well and cut it into half-inch lengths.
- Slip the macaroni into a couple of quarts of clear gravy-soup and let it simmer for a few minutes until ready for table.
- Serve grated Parmesan cheese with the soup.
