Macaroni Soup

Instructions

  1. Bring a pan of water to a fast boil and add the fresh butter and onion stuck with cloves.
  2. Throw in the macaroni and boil until it has swelled to full size and become tender, taking care it does not burst or become pulpy.
  3. Drain the macaroni well and cut it into half-inch lengths.
  4. Slip the macaroni into a couple of quarts of clear gravy-soup and let it simmer for a few minutes until ready for table.
  5. Serve grated Parmesan cheese with the soup.
