Sponge Cake

Ingredients
- 7 eggs
- 3 cups sugar
- 1 pinch salt
- 1 cup water
- 3 cups flour
- 2 teaspoonfuls baking powder
- vanilla extract
- orange or lemon
Instructions
- Beat the egg yolks very light with the sifted sugar and a pinch of salt. Gradually add the cup of hot water. Sift the flour three times with the baking powder, then fold this into the egg mixture. The batter must not be too thin. Fold in last the stiffly beaten egg whites. Pour into greased pans and bake in a quick oven. Flavor with vanilla, and add orange or lemon to the frosting.
