Orange Cake

Instructions

  1. Cream together the butter and two cups sugar until light. Beat in the cold water. Add the flour, which has been sifted three times with the baking powder, alternating it with the three well-beaten eggs. Flavor to taste. Bake in layers.
  2. For the frosting, cook together the strained orange juice and grated orange peel with one cup sugar until the mixture threads. Beat the hot syrup into the two egg whites that have been whipped as stiff as possible. Beat smooth and spread the frosting on the cake while hot.
