Melted Butter

Instructions

  1. Put a large teaspoonful of flour and a little salt into a basin.
  2. Mix them very gradually and very smoothly with a quarter of a pint of cold water.
  3. Turn the mixture into a small clean saucepan and shake or stir constantly over a clear fire until it has boiled for a couple of minutes.
  4. Add an ounce and a half of butter cut into small pieces.
  5. Keep the sauce stirred until the butter is entirely dissolved.
  6. Give the whole a minute's boil and serve it quickly.
