Norfolk Sauce, or Rich Melted Butter without Flour

Ingredients
- 3 tablespoons water
- 4 ounces fresh butter
Instructions
- Put three tablespoonsful of water into a small saucepan and bring to a boil.
- Add four ounces of fresh butter.
- As soon as the butter is quite dissolved, remove the saucepan from the fire.
- Shake the saucepan round until the sauce looks thick and smooth.
- Do not allow it to boil after the butter is added.
