Mustard the Common Way

Ingredients
- 0.5 teaspoon salt
- 2 ounces flour of mustard
- 0.25–0.5 pint boiling water
- 0.5 teaspoon sugar, finest powder
Instructions
- Mix half a teaspoonful of salt with two ounces of mustard flour.
- Add boiling water by degrees, stirring constantly to the mixture.
- Beat well with a spoon, rubbing thoroughly to achieve a perfectly smooth consistency.
- Continue until the mixture resembles a thick batter.
- Allow the mustard to cool completely before transferring it to the mustard-glass.
- If desired, fold in half a teaspoonful of sugar in finest powder.
- Ensure the finished mustard is dilute enough to drop easily from a spoon.
