Baked Apple Sauce

Ingredients

Instructions

  1. Put a tablespoon of water into a quart basin.
  2. Fill the basin with good boiling apples that have been pared, quartered, and carefully cored.
  3. Place a plate over the basin and set it into a moderate oven for about an hour, or until the apples are reduced quite to a pulp.
  4. Beat the apples smooth with a clean wooden spoon.
  5. Add sugar and a morsel of fresh butter to taste, if desired.
