Excellent Portable Lemonade

Source: Eliza Acton, 1845

Instructions

  1. Rasp the rind of a very fine juicy lemon with a quarter-pound of sugar, and reduce it to powder.
  2. Pour on it the strained juice of the fruit.
  3. Press the mixture into a jar. It will keep a considerable time.
  4. When wanted for use, dissolve a tablespoonful of it in a glass of water.
  5. If too sweet for the drinker's taste, a very small portion of citric acid may be added when it is taken.
