To Boil Turnips

- Turnips
- Water
Instructions
- Pare the fibrous rind entirely from the turnips.
- Either split the turnips once or leave them whole.
- Throw them into boiling, slightly salted water.
- Keep the pot closely covered from smoke and dust.
- Boil small, young turnips for fifteen to twenty minutes until tender.
- Boil full-grown turnips for three quarters to a full hour or more with gentle heat until tender.
