Instructions

  1. Peel, quarter, seed and thinly slice the apples; drop into lemon water.
  2. Cook the drained apples with the cinnamon stick, without water, adding sugar as they melt down; cook to a marmalade and remove the cinnamon.
  3. Line a smooth round mold with butter-dipped bread slices, leaving no gaps.
  4. Fill with the apple marmalade and cover with more butter-dipped bread.
  5. Bake pudding-style with heat above until the bread just browns; serve hot.
