Apple Charlotte

Ingredients
- g reinette apples
- g powdered sugar
- crustless stale bread
- good fresh butter
- piece cinnamon stick
- count lemon
Instructions
- Peel, quarter, seed and thinly slice the apples; drop into lemon water.
- Cook the drained apples with the cinnamon stick, without water, adding sugar as they melt down; cook to a marmalade and remove the cinnamon.
- Line a smooth round mold with butter-dipped bread slices, leaving no gaps.
- Fill with the apple marmalade and cover with more butter-dipped bread.
- Bake pudding-style with heat above until the bread just browns; serve hot.
