Silver Cake

Instructions

  1. Beat the whites of a dozen eggs until very light.
  2. Rub the butter and powdered sugar together until creamed very light.
  3. Add the beaten egg whites to the butter mixture and beat all together until very light.
  4. Sift the yeast powder with one pound of flour.
  5. Add the flour mixture to the eggs, sugar, and butter.
  6. Add one-half teacupful of sweet milk and mix quickly.
  7. Beat until very light.
  8. Flavor with two teaspoonfuls of extract of almond or peach at the final beating.
  9. Grease your chosen baking pan well.
  10. Pour the cake batter into the greased pan.
  11. Bake in a moderately hot stove so the cake bakes gradually, arranging the damper to send heat to the bottom of the cake first.
