Ingredients

Instructions

  1. Mix together the grated carrots, onions, and cauliflowers.
  2. Put the mixed vegetables to cook, adding two gallons of vinegar.
  3. Season with ground black pepper, cayenne pepper, and salt, stirring well to incorporate.
  4. Place one teacupful of brown sugar in a frying pan on the fire.
  5. Cook the sugar until it turns a dark brown.
  6. Pour two teacupfuls of vinegar into the browned sugar and stir well.
  7. Strain the caramel-vinegar mixture through a sieve into the kettle containing the cooking vegetables.
  8. Let the entire dressing cook slowly for one day.
