Ingredients
- 1 quart flour
- 0.25 pound butter
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 5 eggs
- 0.5 teacup milk
- 0.25 teacup yeast
Instructions
- Rub the quarter pound of butter into the flour while dry.
- Beat the five eggs very light.
- Add the eggs, salt, milk, and yeast to the flour, and stir the whole together as you would pound cake.
- Put to rise at 10 o'clock at night.
- The next morning, beat over the dough until light as cake.
- Put in a warm place to rise a second time.
- Grease the pan just before putting to rise the second time.
- Bake in the pan it rises in the second time, baking as carefully as you would bake pound cake.
