Meringues

Ingredients
- 12 egg whites egg whites
- 1 pound sugar
Instructions
- Beat the egg whites to stiff peaks.
- Make a syrup by dissolving the sugar with a small amount of water and cooking until it reaches the proper consistency.
- Add the syrup to the beaten whites little by little, mixing constantly and working the mixture well until it thickens to a paste.
- Using a spoon, place small mounds of this paste onto white paper.
- Bake in a low oven until set and lightly colored.
- Once cooled completely, remove the meringues from the paper.
