Sweet Potatoes Stewed

Instructions

  1. Wash and wipe the sweet potatoes. If they are large, cut them in two lengths. Place them at the bottom of a stew pan. Lay slices of boiled ham over the potatoes, and on top of the ham arrange one or two chickens that have been cut up and seasoned with pepper and salt. Add a bundle of herbs. Pour in water to cover, and stew until everything is done. Remove the bundle of herbs. Serve the stew in a deep dish. Thicken the gravy and pour it over the contents.
