Apple Charlotte (My own Recipe)

Ingredients
- 1 dozen Apples
- 1 tablespoon Butter
- 4 lb Sugar
- Cloves or Cinnamon
- 1 loaf White Bread, crumbled very fine
- 1 wine-glass Wine
Instructions
- Butter a pie-dish.
- Place in it alternately a layer of bread-crumbs dotted with butter, slightly sprinkled with spice.
- Add a layer of sugar.
- Add a layer of apples.
- Continue layering, taking care to have a layer of crumbs at the top.
- Pour a wine-glass of wine over it.
- Place a tin cover over the dish for the first half-hour to steam it a little.
- Bake until a nice brown, which will take about one and a half hours.
- Turn out of the dish and serve hot.
