Apple Custard

Ingredients

Instructions

  1. Pare and core twelve pippins and slice them tolerably thick. Put a pound of loaf sugar in a stew pan with a pint of water and twelve cloves. Boil and skim the mixture. Add the apples and stew them until they are clear and only little syrup remains. Lay the apples in a deep dish and remove the cloves.
  2. When the apples are cold, pour in a quart of rich boiled custard. Set the dish in water and make the water boil until the custard is set. Take care the water does not get into the custard.
