Rusk

Ingredients
- 1/2 pound sugar
- 3 pounds flour
- 1/2 pint yeast
- 6 eggs
- 1/2 pint milk
- 6 ounces butter
Instructions
- Rub half a pound of sugar into three pounds of flour, and sift it.
- Pour on half a pint of good yeast.
- Beat six eggs and add half a pint of milk.
- Mix all together and knead it well. If not soft enough, add more milk; it should be softer than bread.
- Make it at night.
- In the morning, if well risen, work in six ounces of butter and bake it in small rolls.
- When cold, slice it, lay it on tin sheets, and dry it in the oven.
