Frickadel (or Savoury Rissoles)

Source: Hildagonda J. Duckitt, 1891

Instructions

  1. Mix well together some minced mutton (raw is nicer than cooked), a slice or two of white bread soaked in milk, a suspicion of onion, a tablespoonful of tomato sauce, and an egg.
  2. Season well with pepper, salt, and nutmeg: for 1 lb. of meat, a quarter of a nutmeg and half a teaspoonful of pepper and salt.
  3. Roll the mixture into round shapes, put in egg and bread-crumbs, and fry in hot fat.
  4. Stewed in a rich curry sauce, this is a nice entrée.
