Herring Salad (A Dutch Recipe)

Instructions

  1. Soak 3 large salted herrings or harders in cold water for a night.
  2. Boil for five minutes.
  3. Separate the fish from the bones.
  4. Slice the onions thinly and scald them with boiling water.
  5. Mix the fish, the onions, and the other ingredients: chopped parsley, salad oil, pepper and vinegar.
  6. Garnish with hard-boiled egg and parsley. Penguin eggs, hard-boiled, may be added to the fish.
  7. This makes a good supper dish.
