Source: Hildagonda J. Duckitt, 1891

Instructions

  1. Bruise these ingredients fine and dry: sour apples, sliced; stoned raisins; dried apricots, soaked in vinegar; 1 lb. sugar; 5 large onions; 3 tablespoonfuls of coriander seeds; garlic; salt; a soup plate of fresh red chillies; ginger; 3 tablespoonfuls of mustard seeds.
  2. Mince the garlic and onions, and stone the raisins.
  3. Mix the other ingredients well together.
  4. Boil the whole in three quarts of vinegar till it looks clear. This is a most delicious chutney.
