Grapes in Brandy (Mrs. Cloete's Recipe)

Instructions

  1. Select nice ripe Hanepot grapes and cut them with a piece of the stalk attached.
  2. Prick each grape with a steel pin.
  3. Fill a jar with the prepared grapes.
  4. Prepare a very thick syrup by boiling it beforehand.
  5. Combine the syrup and spirits of wine in the proportion of two cups of syrup to one cup of good spirits of wine.
  6. Fill the jars with this mixture to cover the grapes.
  7. Cover the jars well and tie down with bladder to seal.
