Cake (Mrs. Faure's)

Ingredients
- 1 lb flour
- 1 lb sugar
- lb butter
- 4 eggs
- glassful milk
- teaspoonful carbonate of soda
- 2 teaspoonful cream of tartar
- flavouring
Instructions
- Stir the butter to a cream.
- Mix with it 4 eggs well beaten, 1 lb. of flour, 1 lb. of sugar, and the glass of milk.
- Lastly add the soda and 2 teaspoonfuls of cream of tartar.
- Bake for one hour and a half in a moderate oven. Any flavouring you like may go in; it makes an excellent cake without any.
