Pudding (Manchester)

Instructions

  1. Boil a pint of milk, then pour it boiling over six ounces of bread-crumbs.
  2. When nearly cold, add two ounces of white sugar.
  3. Beat up two ounces of butter and two eggs, and add them.
  4. Butter a pudding-dish and lay a covering of jam at the bottom.
  5. Pour the mixture over the jam and bake in a quick oven for twenty minutes.
  6. Enough for six. As nice hot as cold.
