Ingredients

Instructions

  1. Cut the mutton into cutlet shapes.
  2. Roll the cutlet shapes in flour, salt, and spices.
  3. Lay the cutlets in a dish.
  4. Pour over them one tablespoonful of tomato sauce and a quarter of a cup of water.
  5. Mix up the batter with flour, skim milk or buttermilk, melted suet or clarified dripping, and carbonate of soda stirred into the dry flour.
  6. Pour the batter on top of the mutton.
  7. Put the pie-dish in the oven and bake for one and a half hours.
