Fritters (Another Way)

Instructions

  1. Mix well with the flour a pinch of salt, half a teaspoonful of carbonate of soda, a little pounded ginger, and about a cupful of thick milk — skim milk does. Mix into a nice smooth paste.
  2. Have ready some boiling lard or clarified dripping and drop in the paste; each small spoonful will rise into a ball.
  3. Serve hot, with sugar and lemon.
