Sauce (Bread) (My Mother's Recipe.)

Instructions

  1. Peel a small onion and cut it in quarters. Simmer it in 1 pint of milk with a blade of mace till tender, then take it out.
  2. Stir a cup of crumbled crumb of bread into the boiling milk and beat it with a fork very smoothly.
  3. Add the seasoning, a teaspoonful of butter, and a little white pepper and salt. Give one more boil.
  4. To enrich the sauce, a spoonful of cream may be added. Time altogether, half an hour.
  5. Serve with turkey, chickens, partridge, and the like.
