Ingredients
- 2 pounds thick rib of mutton
- 2 onions
- 1 dozen or more large tomatoes
- 1 teaspoonful sugar
- salt
- 1 small piece red chilli
Instructions
- Cut the mutton into small pieces and place in a stewing-pot with two onions cut small.
- Let the meat and onion fry to a nice brown over a rather quick fire, taking care not to burn them.
- Take one dozen or more large tomatoes, cut in slices or pass through a mincing machine.
- If the tomatoes are not quite ripe, add a teaspoonful of sugar, then add salt and a small piece of red chilli.
- Add the tomatoes to the meat and let the mixture stew gently.
- If the mixture is watery, remove the lid of the pot until there is a rich thick gravy.
