Fried Rice with Herbs

Ingredients

Instructions

  1. Fry one large onion in one and one-half tablespoons of pork fat until light brown.
  2. Chop three stalks of celery very fine and slice five water chestnuts thin.
  3. Add the chopped celery and sliced water chestnuts to the pan with the onion and fry all together until light brown.
  4. Add two cups of boiled rice (or cold rice if on hand) to the pan.
  5. Mix all together with one teaspoon of salt, a dash of cayenne pepper, and two tablespoons of syou.
  6. Fry the entire mixture for ten minutes, shaking and stirring constantly.
  7. Serve hot, garnished with meat or fish if desired, or alone.
