Asparagus Sauce, to Serve with Lamb Chops

Ingredients
- asparagus (or sprew)
- 1/2 pint gravy
- salt
- white pepper
- 1 lump white sugar
Instructions
- Cut the asparagus into half-inch lengths and wash them. Prepare or warm half a pint of gravy made from beef, veal, or mutton, thickened and seasoned with salt, white pepper, and a lump of white sugar. Throw the prepared asparagus into the seasoned gravy. The lamb chops should be delicately fried. Serve the sauce in the centre of the dish.
