Ingredients
- glasses milk (for pancakes)
- glasses wheat flour (for pancakes)
- eggs (for pancakes)
- funt lard (shpik)
- funt butter
- glass Smolensk groats (fine buckwheat)
- egg (for kasha)
- glass milk or water (for kasha)
- glass currants (korinka)
- spoon butter (for kasha)
Instructions
- Bake pancakes per No. 1636, brown one side.
- Spread with a thin layer of crumbly Smolensk-groat kasha (No. 1750, sweetened with currants, cinnamon, sugar).
- Fold book-fashion, brown, serve at once.
- For a savory version to serve with soup or shchi, make the kasha with salt only (no cinnamon, sugar or currants).
